The Language Forum is offering an
opportunity to practise French in a French environment whilst enjoying
French food and wine. Talking Lunch will provide an occasion, every
month for French conversation at all levels. We recognise that is a strange
sensation to be amongst your fellow countrymen and speak a foreign language.
However our aim is to provide a truly French environment to make you feel
relaxed and thereby enjoy the process of improving your French.
A teacher - facilitator will host a table
of five diners. The tables will be made up of French speakers of a
comparable level. So whether you are a beginner; an intermediate or advanced
student you can be confident that your host will ensure that you and your
fellow diners will enjoy a convivial meal in the company of those who share
and suffer the same communication problems!
Each month there will be a different
topic, suggestions are very welcome for future lunches but for the first
lunch we suggest discussing "The virtues of living in France" This topic
will give us the opportunity to explore:-
- how to express likes and dislikes
- make comparisons
- linking ideas
- expanding vocabulary concerning:- culture, environment;
cost of living etc.
- making sense of word order!
Approximately, a week before each lunch we
will circulate a list of useful phrases and grammar structures that we shall
be using during the session. This will help you prepare your ideas for the
topic of conversation, there will be printed hand-outs available to
illustrate the points of grammar, structure and vocabulary used over lunch.
each session is envisaged to take place between 12.00 - 14.30.
